1. Pray for Dawn is your latest release from Eos. Please give us a brief overview of the series premise and let us know what new challenges is your vampire heroine, Mira, facing this time around?
Pray for Dawn returns to Savannah where Mira and Danaus are once again working together to solve the mystery of the murder of a Senator’s daughter. The culprit looks to me a vampire, which could result in the exposure of their world if people start looking too close. At the same time, Danaus must deal with someone from his dark past, while Mira is taking some grim chances in hopes of outsmarting the queen of the naturi. Pray for Dawn is a switch for readers as this book is told from Danaus’s point of view rather than Mira, who has been the narrator for the first three books. I thought it would be an interesting switch to finally get into Danaus’s head.
2. Describe the hero of the story, Danaus, and his relationship with Mira.
Danaus is a stoic, stubborn creature that is reluctant to give up his long-held beliefs, resulting in a long, hard battle to become friends with Mira. However, he also has a deep sense of honor so that he will not attack her when she is vulnerable and he will protect those who he sees as weaker than him, even if it sometimes means protecting a nightwalker. His relationship with Mira has progressed very slowly because he has been reluctant to shed his belief that vampires are the root of all evil. Yet, he is starting to come around and give in to his attraction toward her, particularly as he begins to see her as a creature with feelings and vulnerabilities.

3. Has your view of these characters changed as the series progressed?
Danaus and Mira have progressed pretty much how I have always expected them to. They are both stubborn and old creatures that are stuck in their own ways, so it is sometimes difficult for them to admit when they are wrong. However, the characters that have surprised me the most are some of the secondary characters that have stepped up into stronger roles within the book. I am particularly proud of James and Tristan as both have proven to be survivors under very ugly circumstances.
4. You have other groups/species, like the naturi, that are unique to your story world. Please tell us about them.
The naturi are a nature-based race that are dependent upon the energy coming from the earth for their own survival. They believe that the human race is destroying the earth and that the only way to protect the earth from such destruction is to eliminate the entire human race. The naturi are broken up into five clans: earth, water, light, wind, and animal. Each clan has its own special powers that they use to fight against the nightwalker – their natural enemies – and the humans.
5. I see that your day job is as a financial analyst. I’ve noticed many authors (including
me) seem to have jobs in finance. Any theories?
Actually, I was unaware that so many authors were involved in the financial field. I’ve been lucky in that my job permits me to write articles about the financial industry, so even though I am focused on the stock market, I am still writing for a living. I’ve enjoyed the finance field because the stock market has a different story that needs to be told everyday and there is always something new brewing to keep me interested. It’s never dull on Wall Street.
6. What are your current projects and works in progress?
I am just about to start the revision process for Burn the Night, which is the sixth book in the Dark Days series. I am also working on plans for another series, but I am still in the early planning stages.
7. Where can readers find you on the web?
